Summary

GoodMornia is a privacy-respecting, local-first alarm, reminder, timer and focus (Pomodoro) app. We have no user accounts and no servers of our own. We do not collect, see, or transmit your personal data. Everything you create stays on your device. The only feature that uses the internet is the optional weather display (see section 3).

1. Data stored on your device

The following is stored only in your device's local storage and is never sent to us:

• Your alarms (time, label, repeat days, sound, volume, puzzle settings)
• Your reminders and notes (including location-based reminders)
• Your timers and Pomodoro sessions
• Wake-up statistics, streaks and the mood you optionally record on waking
• Your app settings (theme, accent colour, language, country/region, default difficulty)
• Personal special days you mark, and all-day events mirrored from your calendar if you enable that
• Any photo you choose as an alarm background
• Your subscription status

You can remove this data anytime via Settings → Delete All Data, or delete it entirely by uninstalling the app.

2. Permissions and why we use them

The app only requests permissions required for its features. Data from them is processed on your device and is not transmitted to us:

• Notifications: so alarms and reminders fire on time.
• System alarms (iOS 26 and later): optional — lets the app register your alarms with iOS's own alarm system, so they ring through Silent mode and even when the app is closed. Only the alarm's time, label and chosen tone are handed to iOS on your device; nothing is sent to us.
• Location (including background / “Always”): only for location-based reminders and the optional alarm location gate (e.g. activate the alarm when you leave home). Used on the device to detect entering/leaving an area; not sent to us. Background/“Always” access is needed so these work even when the app is closed.
• Calendar: optional — to create alarms/reminders from your calendar events, to mirror alarms you create into your device calendar, and, if you turn it on, to mark your all-day events as special days so alarms can skip them.
• Camera: only if you choose the “Dismiss with QR/Barcode” puzzle. The camera feed is processed on-device in real time; it is never recorded, stored, or sent.
• Physical activity / motion sensor: only for the “Steps” and “Shake” puzzles. Accelerometer data is read on-device; it is not stored or sent.
• Photo Library: optional — only if you pick a background image for the alarm screen.
• Exact alarm / vibration: so the alarm rings at the correct time.

You can revoke permissions anytime in your device settings; the related feature won’t work without them, but the rest of the app keeps working.

3. Weather (optional feature that uses the internet)

Only if you enable Weather in settings, the app makes network requests to show current weather on your wake-up screen:

• It contacts ipapi.co to estimate your approximate (city-level) location from your device’s IP address.
• It sends that approximate latitude/longitude to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) to get the current temperature and conditions.

These third parties receive that data under their own privacy policies. We do not store this information, and no precise GPS location is sent. This feature is off by default; if you never enable it, the app makes no such network calls.

4. Spoken morning briefing

If you turn on the spoken briefing, the app reads out the time, the date, your alarm's label and — only if you also enabled weather — the current conditions. It uses the speech engine built into your device. The text is spoken on the device and is not sent to us or to any third party.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not see or store your payment details — those are handled entirely by Apple/Google. The app only learns from the store whether your subscription is active. Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID / Google account, not to any account in the app.

6. Backups

If your device's OS backup is enabled (Google backup on Android, iCloud device backup on iOS), your alarm and settings data may be included in that backup and restored on a new device. This backup is managed by Apple/Google under your account; we have no access to it. You can disable it in your device settings.

7. Sharing with third parties

We do not share, sell, or rent any personal data with anyone. Apart from the optional weather providers named in section 3, we use no ad networks, data brokers, or similar third-party services.

8. Analytics and tracking

The app contains no analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising/tracking tools. We do not track your behavior or build profiles.

9. Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them. In fact, no personal data is collected from any user.

10. Data retention and deletion

Data stays on your device until you delete it. Settings → Delete All Data or uninstalling the app removes your data from the device completely. Since we keep no copy, there is no separate deletion request to send.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. For significant changes we will update the “Last updated” date on this page.
